My adaptation of the painting "Dante et Virgile", painted in 1850 by French painter William Bouguereau (1825 - 1905).
I turned it into a Trompe-l'oeil; by adding shadows, the 2 men appear to be three-dimensionally rendered on a two-dimensional surface.
By the way, the fighting men depicted in this artwork are not Dante and Virgille. In the original painting, Dante and Virgille are the spectators of this perpetual battle of the two doomed souls during their journey through hell.
This classic work of art suits both traditional and modern interiors.
