Everything can change in a single moment - the world, the view, the light. This photograph of a dandelion captures precisely this fleeting moment: the transition from solid structure to dissolution, from circle to movement. The delicate seed heads begin to detach as the wind prepares their path. It is an image full of symbolism - and at the same time a precise botanical portrait.
At the centre is the seed ball of a faded dandelion flower. Finely drawn structures, flooded with light and depicted in great detail, show how filigree and yet stable nature creates its works. The individual parachutes look like small flying objects - ready to take off. The light penetrates them from the side, revealing fine shading and reflections. The background is softly blurred - in a soft brown-green colour - and gives the dandelion all the space it needs.
This photograph is part of the Wildflowers in Portrait series, in which seemingly everyday plant motifs are given a stage. The dandelion stands for letting go, for new beginnings, for the silent dance of life. It is both familiar and strange - after all, who takes the time to really look at this fragile beauty?
Technically, this is a macro shot with a narrow focal plane. The focus is on the centre of the flower, where there are still many seeds. The composition is balanced, the colour scheme calming. For this very reason, this motif is ideal as a mural - for example in practice rooms, libraries, coaching offices, living rooms, healing practices or therapy areas.
A picture that tells of stillness and movement at the same time - and yet is entirely dedicated to lightness.
