This picture was taken on 13-11-'25 in the Amsterdam water supply dunes.
Strolling across the landscape, my attention was drawn to a thicket in which I thought I saw movement. Upon cautiously approaching the thicket, my suspicions were confirmed. A fallow deer buck with about five doe 's.
The buck and I watched each other anxiously.
He had weathered the rut well and secured his harem from any opponents.
Stately and radiating supremacy, I was able to capture this beautiful animal with my 600mm lens.
