The Junior de Luxe (1961-1963) was on the one hand the successor to the DKW Junior, as well as the better-equipped variant, which today would be called a facelift. On the other hand, the real successor, the DKW F 11/F 12 from 1963 onwards, did not look that much different, but it heralded the end of the two-stroke in West Germany.
What was immediately noticeable about the de Luxe were the more prominent headlights and the opening triangular window at the front of the A-pillar. Then there were differently shaped indicators, instead of round ones in the previous grille, which was also changed and no longer went quite so far across the whole width of the body. Above all, there was now visibly more chrome and trim along the length of the roof body and one along the side.
After all, almost the same number of vehicles of the two Juniors were produced, after 118,619 copies the 34 hp de Luxe came to an end!
