Tegenbosch is a bicycle bridge over the A2 motorway and N2 parallel roads in Eindhoven just south of Anthony Fokkerweg and near Eindhoven Airport. The fixed bridge was designed by engineering firm ipv Delft and features a dynamic lighting scheme.[2]
The bridge is part of the project to improve accessibility and traffic flow in the northwest of the city and the airport.[3][4] Before the bridge was installed, cyclists had to use the bicycle path along Anthony Fokkerweg, but this will be converted into an additional lane.[2] The bridge spans the A2 and N2 at once, spanning 14 lanes.[2] The bridge was driven into place over the weekend of 29 and 30 August 2020,[5] and was put into service in October 2020.[6][7] It is a so-called network arch bridge, with this type of bridge requiring relatively few bridge piers. The Tegenbosch therefore only has piers on either side of the span, and mainly carry the weight of the arch; the main span is 130 meters long. This allows motorists to keep an overview of the entire underlying roadway system.
The bridge is named after the old Tegenbosch farm that stood near the bridge,[2] and the bridge is also named after the old farm that stood near the bridge.
