The giant panda is found in the wild only in China. Until 2016, it was an endangered species, but since 2016 the species has been 'Vulnerable'. The latest census showed that about 1,864 giant pandas remain in the wild. The giant panda eats almost exclusively bamboo, which occurs in large quantities in its natural habitat. Despite its diet, the giant panda does belong to the carnivores. Despite its endearing appearance, the giant panda is not harmless to humans and can fiercely defend itself if necessary. Among other things, the panda is used as a logo by the World Wide Fund for Nature.
