The Queen Emma Bridge (nicknamed the swinging old lady or Pontjesbrug) is a distinctive pontoon bridge in the center of Willemstad, Curacao. The bridge is 168 meters long and the only floating wooden swing bridge in the world. The bridge floats on sixteen pontoons on St. Anna Bay and connects Punda and Otrobanda, the two parts of the historic center.
The bridge operator opens the bridge to shipping by sailing it the entire length to the shore side of Otrobanda, counterclockwise, so northward into the bay. On the Otrobanda side, the bridge is hinged, on the other side it is equipped with an engine. When the bridge is open, a free ferry is used, a few hundred meters further.
