The Willemstempel: A fairytale oasis in the Veluwe forests
During a winter walk on the Crown Estates in February 2025, I came across an enchanting scene: the Willemstempel, hidden among the stately trees of the Veluwe. This mysterious structure, constructed from countless timbers and trunks, seems straight out of a fairy tale. The early morning sun casts a golden glow over the place, while patches of mist hang between the trees, making the atmosphere even more magical.
The Willem temple, with its distinctive W and crown in the facade, oozes history and nostalgia. The small pavilion, which once served as a resting place for royal hunting parties, exudes a serene calm. The dark, weathered wood textures contrast beautifully with the soft greenery glowing out through the small windows.
Surrounded by the silence of the forest, all you hear is the rustling of leaves and the song of birds. A moment to pause, take a deep breath and forget about time. Hidden gems like these are what make the Veluwe so special - a place where nature and history merge seamlessly.
If you look closely, you can almost feel the footsteps of the past. The Willem temple guards its secrets patiently, waiting for the next explorer.
