"Cracked" is the first work in a series that shows people covered in cracked black and white earth. The fusion of man and earth blurs boundaries: Is it the earth that moulds and envelops man, or does man wear the earth like a second skin? The transitions are fluid, as are the questions that arise when looking at them. Who is devouring whom? Is it a mask that the earth wears, or is man hiding his true face behind it?
This open interpretation offers space for the themes that are important to the viewer and invites them to put their own thoughts and feelings into the work. What stories and emotions does "Cracked" reflect for you?
