About ‘Cracked Clay Soil in the Sun - Namibia - Fragments of a Forgotten Soil’ by Christiaan de Groot

This picture shows a surface of parched clay, with the top layer broken open in numerous irregular pieces. The light beige slabs lie like loose puzzle pieces on a substrate of warm red sand, visible in the cracks between them. The edges of the clay balls are sharp but brittle, and small grains have gathered in the depths. Here and there…
