About ‘Cow’ by Evert Jan Looise

The cow. A subject of discussion in many forms. Both victim and protagonist. Reviled and idolised. An animal that is so typically Dutch. And not just in the Netherlands, mind you. You come across them everywhere. In many colours and breeds. This is also the case in France, where I took this photo. Just like that, somewhere along the way. I was struck by its stoic gaze and beautiful horns. I wonder if she, too, realises she’s so often the subject of conversation? But however you look at it, she’s inextricably linked to our existence. This colour photograph would suit any interior and any style of home.
