I would have liked to have said that there was such a hard party at the Carmo Monastery that the roof came off... ;) ...but unfortunately this is the result of an earthquake in 1755.
The Carmo Monastery (Portuguese: Convento da Ordem do Carmo) is a historic building in Lisbon, Portugal. The building is a former monastery with its church, located in the district of Chiado. Both buildings were severely damaged during the earthquake in Lisbon in 1755. The ruins of the Gothic church are today the largest surviving evidence of the earthquake.
The building is now an archaeological museum and headquarters of the Guarda Republicana.
