Colourful, tiny grains of cereal in the field, bathed in autumn light

by Silva Wischeropp

This floral nature photograph was taken on 26 September 2026 in the late afternoon using a NIKON D800 camera (lens: NIKKOR 24.0–70.0 mm f/2.8).
I discovered this enchanting and charming, round and colourful grain plant during my extensive photographic walk in the Welt-Acker (school garden) at the Blankenfelde-Pankow Botanical People’s Park.

The earthy, warm, slightly brownish-green colour scheme lends this natural subject a warm, harmonious and pleasant, understated visual character that suits the autumn season perfectly.

The bokeh effect – that is, the blurred background of the cultivated plant – transforms the image into a particularly interesting visual composition with a dreamy, surreal atmosphere.

The Pankow Botanical Public Park forms part of the Barnim Nature Park. The park is situated in north-east Berlin on the Barnim Plateau and is an important feature of this landscape.
Location: The park is situated on the edge of the Barnim Nature Park.
Description: Spanning 34 hectares, it combines a cultural landscape with the nature park, making it a ‘Berlin gateway’ to the open countryside of the Barnim region.
History: The site was originally laid out as a school garden and was integrated into the Barnim Nature Park in 1998.
