Venice's lagoon is home to many islands, Burano being perhaps the most colourful of them all.
The island is inhabited by a community of fishermen, who go out in the early hours of the day. Because of its location in the lagoon, the island is regularly blanketed in fog at sunrise. To be able to find their home again, everyone has painted their house a different colour.
In this image, you can see some of these houses, of which the one with the red facade really stands out!!! The house with the light blue façade, is nicely weathered by the elements
I shot this image on an early spring morning, just after sunrise. Around this time there was no one on the streets and this image gives the impression, that the village is completely deserted!!!
