This photo captures one of the narrow streets of the colourful village of Jodipan, in Malang, on the island of Java in Indonesia. The eye is immediately drawn to the palette of vibrant colours: purple, green, blue and turquoise mingle on the facades, transforming this simple passageway into an open-air art gallery. Once modest and forgotten, the district was reborn when students had the idea of repainting the entire area, breathing new life and a unique identity into the community.
As you walk through the narrow corridors, you discover the daily lives of the residents, smiles exchanged through the windows, the smell of local cuisine and a rare atmosphere of authenticity. The murals tell the story of a resilient and proud people, who have turned colour into a symbol of pride and cohesion.
Today, these alleyways have become a symbol of optimism and creativity, attracting travellers and photographers from all over the world, fascinated by the combination of architectural simplicity and visual brilliance. Jodipan is proof that art can transform everyday life.
Passionate about photography, I travel the world in search of the most beautiful shots.
