Cobalt Blue Abstract Painting: Wave of Light and Silence by Surreal Media

The first thing I see is the wave: a cobalt blue that curls inwards from the top left-hand corner and unfurls into reddish-brown and soft gold, until a small, warm point of light emerges in the centre, almost like a sun sinking behind the water. If you look closely, you’ll find a thin strand of rough copper wire at the bottom, half-hidden beneath the layers of paint, as if it had been left behind by accident when the wave came to rest. The work grew out of the idea of a delicate texture: I wanted to create something that feels soft to the touch, almost fragile, with thin veins of light balancing on the brink of disappearing. Stylists advise seeking out precisely those kinds of fragile, dreamy layers when a space needs tranquillity, and that feeling guided me throughout the entire process.

The atmosphere is cool and spacious, with cobalt as the anchor and gold providing breathing space. Few elements, plenty of air: exactly the balance I wanted to achieve. It’s about finding tranquillity in something that appears to be in motion, about a moment of clarity in the midst of a wave that has not yet rolled out.

Technically, it is a digital artwork, created to resemble thick, poured layers of paint with a soft relief and glossy edges where the colours meet.

In a living room or bedroom, this piece offers a place to catch your breath for a moment, just like at the water’s edge at first light. It also has a calming effect in an office or hall, for anyone who loves crisp mornings and quiet moments by the sea.
