When I am by the sea and walking on the beach, one of my favourite pastimes is looking for shells. My gaze down on the sand of the beach, close to the surf: I can keep this up for a very long time. Sometimes I then have to force myself to look around and enjoy all the other beauty that can be seen at the beach: the sea, the seagulls, ships passing by, beautiful cloudscapes, the sun, the dunes and all the sounds and smells that go with them.
And beautiful shells then deserve to be beautifully photographed. A shell is already a work of art in itself, a work of art of nature, a work of art created by a tiny mollusc. And this artwork of nature deserves to be captured in a beautiful work of art.
The colours used here also recall the sea and the beach: the blue grey of the seawater and the beige orange of the sand on the beach.
The stone base has a coarse texture and emphasises the natural look.
An extra special atmosphere is achieved here by mixing two photos: one sharp and one close up and out of focus. The blurred photo creates additional nuances of beige orange in the background.
Atmospheric, natural and special: this artwork brings the feeling of the sea into your home!
This snail shell belongs to the Turridae family.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
