Kapelle-op-den-Bos is a town and municipality in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality is included in the Brabant Kouters region. Kapelle-op-den-Bos probably owes its origin and name to an oratory or chapel erected in the middle of a forest area. Legend has it that a lost nobleman in the 13th century, in gratitude for his rescue, had a chapel built. In 1564, it was replaced by the present Saint-Nicolas Church. Saint-Nicolas Church was burnt down by the German occupiers in World War I and, after its reconstruction, was given a crown as a tower, instead of a spire, which is unique in Belgium. Evert Larock (Kapelle-op-den-Bos, Brabant 21 May 1865 - 13 January 1901) was a Belgian painter. He was a member of the artists' associations Als ik Kan and De XIII. After an evening course in "Drawing" at the Municipal Academy in Mechelen, he was enrolled for evening classes at the Academy of Antwerp.
