About "Children of the Sea, Joseph Israel with balloon - square"

About the artwork

Digital adaptation of the painting titled "Children of the Sea. Four children are playing with a toy sailboat in the water at the beach. The oldest boy is carrying a child on his back.
This lovely scene contains a message. The fishermen's children with their shabby clothes and shabby toys give us a picture of their future. The oldest boy carries the burden of the family on his shoulders and the little boat stands for the hard life at sea. Jozef Israëls first painted this theme in 1863. It was hugely popular and Israel repeated it many times after that.

A visible sun and an orange balloon have been added to this adapted version, as a nod to the present in which (fishermen's) children are fortunately able to lead a much better existence.

About image-maker Peter Bartelings: as a born and bred Amsterdammer he is closely connected to the city of Amsterdam. Besides the large Amsterdam collection, he also makes work of other cities in the Netherlands, such as Haarlem, Groningen, Zwolle, Leiden, Delft etc. Peter has also made a lot of work in France and Germany. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
