About ‘Chess of the seasons: Timeless decision’ by artefacti

The image presents a stunning fusion of nature and strategy play, where a giant tree embodies the two opposing worlds of the seasons. On the left, the tree is bathed in the golden warmth of an autumn sunset, its leaves coloured in vibrant shades of red and orange, while on the right, the tree is covered in snow, hinting at the icy grip of winter. This tree bends and twists dramatically over a chessboard, representing the natural boundary between the seasons. The board itself lies on the ground, the pieces in full readiness, awaiting the next move. The light of the sunset and the moonlight from the winter side illuminate the board, creating a play of light and shadow that emphasises the timeless nature of the game. The contrast between the living and dying parts of the tree and the alternation between day and night gives the scenario an almost magical atmosphere and symbolises the eternal cycle of growth and decay.
