This castle is a perfect illustration of the architectural flowering that Sologne experienced in the second half of the 19th century, following its opening and the regeneration plan launched by Napoleon III. The castle was designed by the Parisian architects Clément and Louis Parent for an aristocratic family from Orleans. It was built from 1875 to 1882 and served as a meeting place for hunting. Its social purpose is mainly characterized by the importance of the reception rooms. The architectural style was inspired by the Renaissance in the Loire Valley.
