Beautiful chapel at sunset, it stands on a small hill in a grain field in Bemmel.
The field chapel was built in 1946 on the initiative of the then Bemmel chaplain Gijs van der Voort and designed by Charles Estourgie.
Until the end of the sixties there was an annual procession from Bemmel to the memorial chapel.
On and around the Heuvel in 1944 there was heavy fighting between German and British infantry. In memory of this, this chapel was built. Still many visitors come here, especially around the time of the national remembrance of the dead.
The beautiful colors in the sky during sunset make this one of my favorite images I've made recently.
Very special also because the grain only grows there once every 4 years.
A print of this photo on any material is a wonderful addition to anyone's wall because of the warm colors and depth in the photo.
