Cathedral Cove located in Coromandel New Zealand is world famous because it was included as stock wallpaper in the Windows Operating System. Since then, people from all over the world have been coming to see this beautiful little cove.
I waited very patiently for four days for this sunset. The first time I went for sunset, the clouds came rolling in and since then it has been raining. I didn't want to leave without getting an epic sunset picture so I waited out the storm. I checked the weather everyday to see when the sun would come out. Finally, on the fourth day around 17:00, the clouds dispersed, and the sun came out; I greeted it with a smile on my face.
I knew that after all this rain, nature would reward with a spectacular sunset. I grabbed my gear, some fruit, my water bottle, and hopped into my car racing towards Hahei. I arrived well before sunset and walked from the car park straight to the cove. I already knew the perfect spot for the best composure because this wasn't my first time here. So I spent some time mucking around on the beach, doing some stretching, and failing at doing a jump kick.
Closer to sunset, I set up my camera and began taking test shots to find the optimum settings, but that wasn't all. I watched the clouds drift, eyeing each one to make sure I time my shots perfectly. Of all the photos I took, this is my favorite, I timed it so the rock face would be right between two passing clouds. As soon as I took this photo, I knew it was the one.
