About ‘Castle of Leiden’ by Dirk van Egmond
Leiden castle is one of the oldest surviving examples of a fortress in the Netherlands. The structure is located in the centre of Leiden, where the two arms of the Rhine merge. The round structure is located on a motte, an artificial hill, and can be entered through a sandstone gate.
