I was stunned when the Mauritshuis Museum called me to ask if I would like to take a good look at Carel Fabritius' Putter. You would think that they would have restorers who could do this properly.
But anyway, while working I found the painting to be a bit dated and I adjusted it to a painting with modern pastel colors. A little bit of Delft blue because that is so Dutch. Of course I know that when you restore you shouldn't change anything on the work, but yes, that birdhouse really needed a facelift.
I still have to return it, wonder if they will like it :-).
