About the artwork

A main guard or Grande Garde is the name given to a central post, a building from which the militias or other security services could make their guard tours. The building of the new guardhouse on the Grote Markt was already built in 1509, according to a plaque. In 1841, the Ministry of War took over the building and it assumed the function of Head Guard.

The Martinikerk, formerly called Sint-Maartenskerk or Sint-Maartenskathedraal, is the oldest church in the city of Groningen. The church and the accompanying Martinikitoren are named after Saint Martin. The present Martinikerk is a hall church that mainly dates from the fifteenth century. The Martinikerk served as a cathedral during the brief existence of the first diocese of Groningen (1559-1594).

Carel Christiaan Anthony Last (Amsterdam, Holland, Netherlands 11 December 1808 - The Hague, 17 December 1876) was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and lithographer. He studied at the Royal Academy in Amsterdam.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
