Captured in music – Surrealist moon butterflies by Betty Maria Digital Art

At the centre of this surrealist portrait stands a dreamy young woman, enveloped in soft colours and an almost meditative stillness. The hat she wears no longer appears to be an ordinary object, but a magical ornament that unfolds into circular patterns and leaf-like structures.

Moon butterflies flit around her, light and graceful, as if they were part of an inner world that is slowly unfolding outwards. Her closed eyes and serene demeanour lend the work a sense of tranquillity and introspection — a moment in which fantasy and reality gently touch.

The background consists of washed-out pastel colours, warm tones that flow into cooler shades, creating a dreamlike landscape that supports the whole without dominating it. Abstract flowers and a subtle crescent moon enhance the magical atmosphere and enrich the image without becoming overwhelming.

This piece is part of my series of surrealist moon moth illustrations, in which humanity and nature become poetically intertwined. I’m Betty, a digital creator from the Eifel, and I create illustrations that invite stillness, wonder and a touch of magic — images that briefly transport you to a world that’s just a little bit different from our own.
