The Canadair (or Bombardier) CL-415 is a seaplane developed in 1990 that was specifically designed to fight large fires. The aircraft is the successor to its smaller predecessor the Canadair CL-215.
The aircraft is based on the extended airframe of its predecessor and can carry 6140 kg of water or firefighting chemicals in its cargo hold. This cargo hold can be filled on any water surface where the aircraft can land. At sea, it takes only 30 seconds to fill the cargo hold.
