Paul Cézanne (Aix-en-Provence, 19 January 1839 - there, 22 October 1906) was a French painter. Cézanne belongs to post-impressionism, a European art movement that followed impressionism. His work formed a bridge between Impressionism and Cubism.
In 1872 he stayed in Auvers-sur-Oise. There he worked with Camille Pissarro and other Impressionists, but clearly sought his own way. He worked in the house of doctor Paul Gachet. In 1874 the Impressionists organized their first joint exhibition in the studio of the photographer Nadar.
Camille Pissarro, born as Jacob Abraham Pizarro (Charlotte Amalie, 10 July 1830 - Paris, 12 November 1903) was a French Impressionist painter with Danish nationality.
