Laundromats have something cinematic to me. When I walk by, I always take a look inside. That bare space filled with large stacked washing and drying machines is a kind of no man's land.
In an instant, I observe the person who appropriates this space for a moment. His casual waiting has begun. Garments stick behind the revolving glass of the machine. A stray sock in the window frame. A phone call that kills time.
People come and go. Each with his own story. Each with his own bag of laundry. With sometimes a pause in between. Then the shop is empty. The open mouths of the machines gape at you. Who will start the next wash?
