Butterfly wall decoration – Delft Blue butterflies with Van Gogh’s almond blossom

by Elianne van Turennout

Two common blue butterflies mating amongst the greenery, but rendered in Delft blue. What we might regard as vulgar in human terms becomes an intimate moment in nature here. Their wings have been transformed into porcelain wings adorned with delicate golden lines and painted almond blossoms, inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s painting of almond blossoms. The upper butterfly clings to the leaf; the lower one hangs upside down.

The soft green background keeps the image natural, whilst the butterflies themselves look as though they have almost escaped from a china cabinet. This image manipulation is a good match for anyone looking for butterfly wall art, two Delft-blue butterflies, mating insects, Van Gogh-inspired art, soft almond blossom art, surrealist animal art, cobalt-blue art or blue-and-white wall art.

Thanks to the combination of tropical greenery, porcelain wings, golden details and botanical patterns, this piece is also well suited to lovers of insect art, nature art, kintsugi-inspired designs, macro photography and modern wall art with a classic twist.

These Delft blue butterflies look lovely on a photo print, but also work well on canvas, aluminium Dibond or acrylic glass. A unique piece of art for a living room, bedroom, hall, study, practice room or a stylish interior. Particularly in a space where nature is allowed to be itself without restraint, but with a touch of cobalt blue, gold and a hint of Van Gogh.
