Parthenos sylvia Parthenos sylvia is a butterfly in the subfamily Limenitidinae of the family Nymphalidae, the foxes, pearl moths and weather moths. The wings are usually black and yellow, but there are several subspecies with different colours.
An example is the Parthenos sylvia lilacinus Butler which is black and blue.
There are also subspecies with the colours green, brown and orange.
The wingspan varies between 70 and 80 millimetres. The butterfly is found in the forests of the Oriental region in India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka the Indian Archipelago, New Guinea and the Philippines.
