The orange passionflower butterfly (Dryas iulia) is a butterfly in the subfamily of passionflower butterflies (Heliconiinae) and the only species in genus Dryas.
It is a shapely species in which more than a dozen subspecies have been named. Common from tropical South America and Central America to the southern United States (southern Texas and Florida), the butterfly has a wingspan of 7.5-9.5 cm.
The butterflies have long, narrow front wings.
On the underside, the butterflies are pale orange-brown in colour with two red spots near the wing base.
There are a number of subspecies that differ in both intensity of wing colour and size depending on the biotope
