In the picture you can see perfectly the beautiful drawings on the wings of the Cranberry Blue. A real eye catcher! A beautiful and fresh color combination for both indoors and outdoors.
The cranberry blue is one of the many species of blues in the Netherlands. However, this is an extremely rare butterfly. The cranberry blue, lives in the northern Netherlands in small bogs in the woods and has a very short flight time. It is also a very small butterfly, only 14 millimeters.
This made it a difficult, but fun challenge for me to photograph this butterfly. It was even more difficult to be able to make a macro photo of it. Because with a macro photo you have to be very close. In this picture, the butterfly was 10 centimeters away from my lens.
On a beautiful summer day I went on the road. On to the location that I had found after the necessary research. Eventually after much searching I found the butterfly. Now I just had to capture it. Patiently I waited at the edge of the very sensitive area and I was lucky that butterflies came by in turn. That resulted in this photo.
