About ‘Burning butter candles in a dark temple in Tibet’ by Rietje Bulthuis
Burning butter candles in a temple in Tibet.
Butter is poured into the copper holders, (butter from the yak, a kind of beef) then a wick is put in it and the candle burns. Pilgrims sacrifice the yak butter. You see people walking with big thermos jugs filled with butter.

I like to take pictures of nature and landscapes. Travelling is my passion. I also like to occasionally apply in photoshop effects, or create new designs, thus creating digital art. Also art and culture in other countries have my interest. I created many albums in my shop: panoramas, landscapes, animals, people, flowers, various countries, buddhas and more. Besides photography I am involved in sculpting and painting. My other work can be seen on Visit shop
