On a trip through Iceland in May 2025, I took this macro shot of a purple-blue lupine, just as a bumblebee and a fly were showing themselves. The sun was just setting, giving the flowers a warm glow, while the insects' details stood out sharply against the soft, out-of-focus background.
The picture was taken in a field full of flowering lupines, typical of Icelandic spring. The colours are bright and natural - the contrast between the cool purple and warm sunlight makes the image fresh and vibrant. The low position of the sun creates a soft, almost golden light that beautifully highlights the bumblebee's fine hairs.
What makes this image special for me is the combination of calm and movement: a small moment from nature that is normally easily overlooked. That is precisely what makes this shot powerful.
Imagine how this image fills your space with colour and natural detail.
