Broad spiny fern
The plant has a thick, upright rhizome from which regular, funnel-shaped bundles of leaves grow. The rhizome is sometimes branched so that a number of such bundles are in a group. The leaves grow to 40-100(-150) cm long and usually 15-30cm wide, have a shorter petiole and usually remain green throughout the winter. They are dark green, broadly triangular ovoid to elongated and up to three or four times pinnate. The outer segments are rounded up. The stem is densely covered with brown scales with a clear, blackish brown core. The sori are about 1 mm in diameter and the indusium usually has yellow glands at the edge. The plant is often recognizable from a distance by the outward hanging top of the leaf. (Source wikipedia)
