Breakwaters in the sun in Zeeland was taken at sunset. The light was soft and warm and the sun cast a subtle glow over the water. The groynes stand still in the surf. Firm and present in the quiet rhythm of the sea.
Between the breakwaters and the horizon, time slowed down in the warm light of Breskens.
The air is clear and the horizon is straight. There is little movement. Everything radiates simplicity. No distractions, no bustle. Only shapes, lines and light.
The structure of the groynes forms a beautiful contrast with the soft, flat water surface. Together they form a rhythm in the image. A line that follows the eye, up to the one pole in the distance. That gives space in the image and a sense of balance.
“Breakwaters in the sun in Zeeland” was taken in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. A place by the sea where the peace is still palpable, especially outside the high season. A scene that invites you to stand still for a moment. To look. And not have to do anything.
