The Botlek bridge is a lifting bridge for road and rail traffic over the Oude Maas in the Rotterdam port area. The bridge was opened in 1955 and was replaced in 2015 by a completely new bridge. Since then, there are two lanes for road traffic in both directions, while train traffic gets one track for each direction. Since 1980, when the Botlek tunnel became available for road traffic, the bridge has mainly been used as a route for slow traffic and for the transport of hazardous substances that are not allowed through the tunnel. I photographed this bridge in the early evening to get some color in the sky ... Photo made in the transition from the golden hour to the blue hour.
