Cyanotype is a photographic process that produces a cyano-blue print after development. The process results from the use of two chemicals: ammonium iron citrate and potassium hexacyanoferrate. When these two substances are exposed to strong light (the sun!) they turn into Prussian blue. When the chemicals are washed away with water, a stable and distinctive blue colour is left behind, on which the image is rendered in white lines. Because this cyanotype print is then also digitally processed by applying an additional coloured layer, the result is a work of art created partly by the sun and partly by the computer. In this way, a unique print has been created.
