Watercolor of the lovely winter aconite.
A small bulbous plant that blooms during the months of February-March, it is a striking harbinger of the coming spring. The plant is about 5 cm high, but beams at you with cup-shaped, yellow, small flowers. Because in this species the green collar of leaves is only small, the little flowers are clearly visible. The species is native to Turkey, Iraq and Afghanistan, but does well in the Netherlands apparently also in the garden.
