About the artwork
This picture was taken in Morocco and shows a calm and simple facade. The facade is plastered white and exudes tranquillity. In the centre of the image, you can see a blue door. The door has a bright colour that contrasts nicely with the white surface of the wall. The combination of white and blue is common in Moroccan villages and towns, especially in areas close to the coast.
To the right of the door, a small blue planter hangs on the wall. A green plant is growing in the tray, its leaves slightly protruding. The colour of the leaves contrasts with the blue receptacle and the white wall. On the ground, to the left and right of the doorway, are two larger blue pots, each with a plant inside. The plants are different in shape, which makes the picture a bit playful.
The picture has a botanical character due to the presence of the plants, but remains calm and uncluttered. The use of colour - mainly white, blue and green - makes the picture look fresh and balanced. This photo shows in a simple way how nature and architecture come together in the streets of Morocco.
