About ‘Boijmans Van Beuningen Depot’ by delkimdave Van Haren

Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen was designed by the Dutch architecture firm MVRDV. The inspiration for the shape of the building was an aluminum-colored bowl from IKEA. This Blanda Blank, a slightly shiny 3.99 euro stainless steel serving bowl, was accidentally placed on the table as a sugar bowl during preliminary discussions about the design for the building.[6][7]

The depot is a 39.5-meter-high, bowl-shaped building lined on the outside with mirrored panels, creating a more or less contiguous diminutive mirror image of its surroundings, where one can see over the surrounding buildings. The building contains 1664 mirror panels with a combined area of 6609 m2. The total floor area is 15,541 m2.[5]

The building has seven floors. On the roof is a restaurant with 120 seats.

To ensure the privacy of patients from the neighboring Erasmus MC, a number of plates have been matted on that side. Also, some spaces where daylight is needed are fitted with normal glass.[2]

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
