The Eastern Scheldt is a tidal area and so you sometimes have high tide and sometimes low tide there. It is a tiny unofficial harbour, where these boats are moored. It is best when there is a small layer of water, as in the picture, because then you get a nice reflection of the mast(s) and boats.
Because the sky and mud are quite neutral in colour, the colours of the boats stand out all the more. This way, you can add a subtle colour accent to your interior.
