About ‘On the water at Mizithres, Zakynthos’ by Laura Wubben

This photo was taken at Mizitres, on the west coast of Zakynthos, a place that many travellers remember for its clear waters and open sea. A boat lies still on the surface, as if time is in no hurry here. The water shows the bottom and makes the distance between boat and sea almost invisible.

Zakynthos is known for its coastlines where rocks and water meet without transition. At Mizitres, this feeling is enhanced by the open space and the play of light on the water. In this sculpture, the boat acts as a resting point, a place where your gaze lingers while the surroundings quietly unfold.

This picture evokes memories of trips around the Greek islands, of days at sea and moments when you don't have to do anything but look. On the wall, the image brings together a sense of freedom and destination. For those who have visited Zakynthos, or still dream of it, this work provides a tangible reminder of the Ionian Sea.
