One of the most famous sights on the island of Malta is the Blue Grotto. The cave was named after a British soldier who thought it had many similarities to the Grotta Azzurra in Capri and thus deserved the same name. When the sunlight hits the cave, the phosphorescent underwater flora is reflected, creating beautiful blue hues.
