This flower is painted with ink and acrylic. I first sprayed the canvas with water and applied a few drops of India ink.
This causes the colour to run from intense to pale and I used a brush to spread the colour further. I dabbed the centre of the flower exclusively with acrylic paint, while at the same time drawing the colour around the edges with a brush to create the depth of a flower.
depth of a blossom. The ink gives the flower a lightness, as the white of the canvas shimmers through.
With this art form, the blossom is orientated towards the abstract and allows the viewer to freely interpret the flower and its surroundings.
While the flower takes centre stage, the painting also subtly emphasises the importance of the greenery. Overall, this painting is an exquisite depiction of the beauty of nature.
