The blossom park in the Amsterdamse Bos is in full bloom every spring. After the winter it's waiting for the big moment when the Japanese cherry blossom is at its most beautiful. That period is short: flowering time in the blossom park lasts about two weeks.
In the Blossom Park in the Amsterdamse Bos there are 400 cherry trees. In the spring you can enjoy the beautiful blossoms and all year round the place exudes a special atmosphere.
Women's names
In 2000 the Japan Women's Club (JWC) donated 400 cherry trees to Amstelveen: Prunus Yedoensis (grafted on a straight rootstock). Each tree has a name: 200 trees have a Japanese female name, 200 trees have a Dutch female name. You can find them at the bottom of this text.
Tsunami memorial
In the Blossom Park you will find the Tsunami Monument. The Blossom Park is a popular place for the Japanese community in and around Amsterdam.
