I hope to translate themes of movement, energetic states, my passion for nature and fond memories of happier times spent deeply immersed in the culture of my tropical island home, the sea, the laughter the rainforests, and landscapes, food music, dance. I also use texture as a reference and homage to my kinaesthetic son. In creating my work, I explore and grapple with the need to control the outcome – a trauma response habit that I used to feel safe and secure by controlling as much of my life and surroundings as I could.
