What a luck when you discover a nest of the black woodpecker. Many days and hours I stood near this hollow tree. Very early in the morning when it was still very cold and my fingers hurt from the cold. But also on sunny days when the young birds had already hatched. The first weeks the parents dive into the nest to feed the chicks. But when the chicks come out and they are waiting impatiently for mom or dad, then a great time for a photographer starts. And then you come back one early morning and they have all flown out. Father and mother raised four young black woodpeckers. It were a few beautiful weeks, I will not forget that easily.
